Zad: Miles for Connection

The right to freedom of movement is essential for a generation of artists who had to relocate to Europe. Zad promotes the mobility of artists, individuals, and groups by offering financial support to showcase their work in new venues. This assistance can cover travel costs within their current country or across Europe. The program is open for applications year-round.

Zad: Miles for Connection

Project description

Zad is a funding framework by Ettijahat, supported by the Allianz Foundation and designed to promote mobility and communication for artists from the Arab region residing in Europe. Its main objective is to develop their artistic and professional path in collaboration with their peers and across various artistic spaces and platforms. Additionally, Zad assists artists in reaching and engaging with different types of audiences, all while enhancing their contributions to public life within the cities and countries in which they reside and work.

Many Arab artists have migrated to Europe in recent years, facing challenges such as isolation, lack of opportunities, language barriers, and unfamiliar production processes. Zad helps artists overcome these obstacles, ensuring their voices remain part of cultural conversations in their new homes.

The program aims to connect Arab artists in Europe with new audiences and creative spaces. It helps them grow their careers by collaborating with peers and presenting their work in diverse artistic platforms. The project also encourages artists to engage with the public and contribute to cultural life in their new cities.

The program aims to make it easier for artists to participate in festivals, exhibitions, performances, and other artistic events, ensuring their work reaches wider audiences across Europe.
